  • 1 piece pie crust Pre-baked for a crispier base
  • 1 cup pecans, chopped
  • 3/4 cup granulated sugar
  • 1/2 cup brown sugar
  • 1/2 cup corn syrup
  • 1/4 cup bourbon Use quality bourbon for better flavor
  • 1/4 cup unsweetened cocoa powder
  • 4 large eggs
  • 1/4 cup melted butter
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt

Method
 

Preparation
  1. Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C).
  2. In a large bowl, mix the granulated sugar, brown sugar, corn syrup, bourbon, cocoa powder, eggs, melted butter, vanilla extract, and salt until well combined.
  3. Stir in the chopped pecans.
  4. Pour the mixture into the prepared pie crust.
Baking
  1. Bake for 60-70 minutes, or until the filling is set and the top is slightly puffed.
  2. Allow to cool before serving.

Notes

Serve with vanilla ice cream or whipped cream. Option to drizzle chocolate sauce and sprinkle more chopped pecans on top. Store leftovers covered in an airtight container in the fridge for 3-4 days.
