  • 1 box yellow cake mix
  • 2 cans apple pie filling
  • 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon for added spice
  • 1 cup caramel sauce use quality for maximum flavor
  • 1/2 cup butter, melted
  • 1/2 cup crushed pecans or walnuts optional for added crunch

Method
 

Preparation
  1. Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C).
  2. In a greased 9x13 inch baking dish, spread the apple pie filling evenly.
  3. Sprinkle ground cinnamon over the apple filling.
  4. Evenly pour the dry cake mix over the apple pie filling. Do not stir.
  5. Drizzle the melted butter over the dry cake mix.
  6. Pour caramel sauce on top and sprinkle with crushed nuts, if using.
Baking
  1. Bake for 45-50 minutes or until the top is golden brown and crispy.
Serving
  1. Serve warm with a scoop of ice cream or a dollop of whipped cream.

Notes

Store leftovers covered in the fridge for up to 5 days. Reheat in the oven or microwave before serving. For variations, try using cherry or peach filling, or a spice cake mix.
