Preparation
- Preheat your oven to 400°F (200°C) and line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
- In a bowl, combine ground turkey, egg, ¾ cup mozzarella, and seasonings. Mix until just combined.
- Roll the mixture into 1.5-inch meatballs and place them on the sheet. Bake for 25 minutes until cooked through.
- Move the baked meatballs to a casserole dish.
Assembly and Baking
- Top the meatballs with tomato sauce, the remaining mozzarella, and parmesan.
- Bake uncovered for 15–20 minutes until the cheese is melted and bubbly. Broil for an additional 2–3 minutes for extra browning.
- Let it rest for 5 minutes, then garnish with basil or parsley and serve hot.
Notes
This casserole can be made ahead of time and stored in the fridge for up to 3 days or frozen for up to a month. Reheat covered with foil to keep it moist.
